Goldsboro punched in two first-half goals and its defense did the rest in a 2-1, second-round victory over Midway in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 2-A playoffs Saturday evening.
Senior Juanita Cortes-Torres and sophomore Shakia Doctor tallied one goal apiece for the Cougars. Abigail Lewis dished out one assist.
Goldsboro attempted 10 shots on frame.
Sophomore goalie Selena Morales played another stellar game between the pipes with 10 saves in 80 minutes of action.
The Cougars (18-2-3) play host to perennial power Southwest Onslow (15-4-3) on Wednesday. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Cougar Stadium.
