PIKEVILLE -- Taylor Puetz smashed a home run that unofficially landed near Faro, and Charles B. Aycock throttled Western Harnett, 10-2, in the NCHSAA 3-A playoffs Wednesday evening.
Puetz ended the night 3-for-4 with a stolen base and four RBI. Her fourth-inning over-the-wall rocket knotted the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Connor Vinson, Mookie Powell (RBI) and Mackenzie Wheeler (two RBI) provided two hits apiece.
CBA had 10 hits overall.
Wheeler logged four strikeouts and permitted two unearned runs during her four-inning stint inside the circle. Taylor Waddell provided three innings of five-strikeout relief.
The Golden Falcons, the reigning East champions, entertain Pittsboro Northwood on Friday.
