1A BASEBALL PLAYOFFS: Dupuy, Geelen shut down Louisburg

LOUISBURG -- Matt Dupuy scattered eight hits in 52/3 innings of work during Spring Creek's opening-round, 6-3 triumph over Louisburg in the NCHSAA 1-A playoffs Wednesday evening.
Dupuy permitted three earned runs, walked one and retired three Louisburg batters on strikeouts.
Kaden Geelen notched the save with 11/3 innings of two-hit, three-strikeout relief.
Christian Yarbrough paced the Gators' offense with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Levi Miller, Geelen (RBI), Joshua Lebron (RBI) and Austin Reynolds (two RBI) contributed one hit apiece.
Yarbrough, Landon Smothersand Jensen Barwick each had one stolen base.
The 21st-seeded Gators continue play Friday at Perquimans.
