PIKEVILLE -- Five Charles B. Aycock pitchers combined for a no-hitter during a 14-0, mercy-rule conquest of county and Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference rival Eastern Wayne on Thursday evening.

The Golden Falcons finished 4-0 among their ECC 3-A counterparts and earned the No. 1 seed -- along with an opening-round home game -- for the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs.

Play begins next Wednesday.

First-round pairings have not been determined.

Allison Shingleton, Taylor Waddell, Mackenzie Wheeler, Leah Campbell and Brianna Martin all saw action inside the circle. Each threw one inning as Aycock improved to 34-0 all-time against the Warriors.

The Golden Falcons also flexed their muscle at the plate.

Wheeler smashed a grand-slam home run -- the first of her career -- and concluded the night 4-for-4 with five RBI. Waddell belted a three-run blast to highlight a 3-for-4, four-RBI outing.

Cara Lenzi went "yard" with a three-run bomb and finished with three hits and an RBI in the scorebook. Shingleton filed a 3-for-4 worksheet that included a double, a home run and three RBI.

Connor Vinson contributed three hits. Mookie Powell doubled during a 2-for-3 effort. Hannah Vinson slapped out a pair of hits.

Aycock (19-3 overall, 9-3 ECC) posted its 10th shutout of the season.

The Warriors finished the year 2-20 overall.
