Rosewood clinched the Carolina 1-A Conference championship outright with a 9-1 romp over James Kenan on Friday evening.
The Eagles secured the league's automatic berth -- and an opening-round home game -- for the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs, which begin May 10.
Derek Neal and Stalen Massengill cranked out three hits apiece and combined for two RBI. Tanner Bradley (two RBI) belted a home run and plated a pair of runs.
Will Albert (two RBI) provided two hits.
Chance Howard, Jonathan Peacock (RBI) and Boone Moody each contributed one hit.
Peacock went the distance on the hill -- a two-hit, three-strikeout gem. The Tigers' lone run was unearned.
Catawba signee Ken Avent III endured the pitching loss. He yielded seven earned runs on 10 hits and four walks. John Avent tossed two innings of three-hit relief.
Rosewood (16-3 overall, 12-1 CC) travels to Charles B. Aycock on Monday.
