PREP SOFTBALL: Powell knocks grand slam for CBA

SNOW HILL -- Mookie Powell smashed her first-ever grand-slam home run as Charles B. Aycock throttled Greene Central, 14-1, in mercy-rule fashion on Thursday evening.
Powell ended the night 3-for-4 with five RBI.
Connor Vinson and Hannah Vinson contributed three hits apiece. Cassandra Lassiter, Cara Lenzi and Allison Shingleton each provided two hits during the road win.
Mackenzie Wheeler emerged as the winning pitcher. The right-hander limited the Rams to two hits and one walk in five innings.
The Golden Falcons (16-3 overall) return home today to face New Bern in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play.
