Eastern Wayne is playoff bound.
The Warriors won five of six singles courts and handed county arch rival Charles B. Aycock a 5-1 loss in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play Thursday afternoon.
EW secured the league's lone berth and opening-round home match for the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-A dual-team playoffs, which begin May 2.
"This was probably our best team performance all year," Warriors head coach Craig Hassell said. "(I'm) extremely proud of the hard work and constant improvement of this team."
Daniel Stevens sealed the outcome with tightly-contested 7-6 (6), 6-4 victory over the Golden Falcons' Sam Andrews at No. 6 singles.
Dylan March, Walker Davis, Anass Sarah and Ian Burchett each claimed a singles point for EW. Davis outlasted Jonas Creel 6-3, 7-6 (0) at the No. 2 slot.
Nolan Casey claimed CBA's lone point -- a 7-5, 6-1 conquest of Yoseph Yan at the No. 3 flight.
Eastern Wayne (9-5 overall, 6-4 ECC) and C.B. Aycock return to action April 26 in the season-ending individual conference tournament at CBA. First serve is 2 p.m.
