BASEBALL: Greene Central dismantles Ayden-Grifton

LITTLEFIELD -- Greene Central plated a total of eight runs during the first three innings and dispatched Ayden-Grifton, 14-5, in an Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference affair Wednesday evening.
Don Pigford paced the Rams' offense with three hits and three RBI.
Tyler Horner (RBI), Jackson Batchelor (RBI), Hunter Moore (two RBI), Dane Hedgepeth (two RBI) and Travis Mewborn (RBI) supplied one hit apiece.
GC hurler Dylan Benton surrendered five runs (three earned) on five hits and retired five Chargers on strikeouts. Batchelor tossed two innings of no-hit, three-strikeout relief.
The Chargers committed seven errors on defense.
The Rams (8-6 overall, 4-2 ECC) face North Pitt in the annual Pitt County Easter Classic on Saturday.
