GIRLS' TRACK: Golden Falcons' Carter sets new school record

NEW BERN -- Charles B. Aycock's Cyerra Carter set a new school record in the long jump and walked away with two first-place finishes overall during an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet ran at New Bern on Wednesday afternoon.

Carter posted a meet- and career-best distance of 17 feet, 5 inches in the long jump. She bested the field with a mark of 35-8 in the triple jump, and claimed third in the 200-meter dash (27.63 seconds).

Regional qualifier Arlanda Faulkner, a junior, finished behind Carter in the long jump (16-10 and triple jump (34-10). She also competed on the 4x4 relay, which claimed first in 4 mnutes, 37 seconds. Rounding out the relay were Bre'onna Bryant, Sarah Gregory and Hannah Carter.

Bryant took second in the 100 (13.0 seconds) and 400 run (1:04.75). Gregory won the 800 in 2:53 and grabbed second in the 1,600 (6:15). Carter was second in the 800 with a time of 3 minutes.

Aycock returns to action Monday in the 2017 Wayne County Track & Field Championship meet at Rosewood.
