BASEBALL: Lakewood topples Spring Creek in 6 innings

SALEMBURG -- Zach Tanner and Josh Carter combined for a six-hitter, and Lakewood handed two-time defending Carolina 1-A Conference champ Spring Creek a 14-4, mercy-rule defeat Thursday afternoon.
Tanner limited the Gators to four runs (three earned) on five hits and posted six strikeouts during his five-inning appearance. Carter tossed one inning of one-hit, two-strikeout relief.
Christian Yarbrough and Matt Dupuy had two hits apiece for the Gators. Levi Miller batted 1-for-4, while Kaden Geelen ended the day 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Jensen Barwick, Jordan Ammons, Dupuy and Casey Whitfield all saw mound time for the Gators.
