TRENTON -- Jones Senior cobbled out a 10-run lead and thwarted Goldsboro's late comeback attempt during a 13-11, non-conference victory Thursday afternoon.
Brody Morton emerged as the Cougars' top offensive player with three hits. Matthew Lewis and Owen Flock provided two hits apiece. Chandler Patrick tripled.
Natorian Nobles, Elijah Curtis and Michael Eltz each had a single.
Patrick tossed three innings of three-hit, five-strikeout relief.
The Cougars (0-5 overall) entertain Beddingfield next Wednesday.
