The Goldsboro Heat boys' basketball team concluded its season with an 80-47 loss to top-seeded Durham Flight in semifinal-round action of the N.C. Homeschool Educators Athletic Conference (NCHEAC) East regional. Junior Gavin Portela led the Heat with 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots. Junior Harman Kaler contributed 14 points and freshman Hayden Portela recorded eight points. Goldsboro upset fourth-seeded South Wake, 66-63, in overtime during the quarterfinals. Gavin Portela earned a nod on the NCHEAC all-tournament team and earned all-conference honors. Goldsboro Heat head coach Gilbert Portela was the East Regional Coach-of-the-Year runner-up.
