* Boys' basketball: C.B. Aycock 52, Eastern Wayne 38 -- Tyrie Artis pumped in a game-high 13 points for the Golden Falcons, who finished the year 14-8 overall and 8-4 in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play Thursday evening. AliJuan Moore and Jaylan Robinson scored 11 points apiece. Jacari Outlaw knocked down eight points.
* Girls' basketball: C.B. Aycock 31, Eastern Wayne 9 -- Taylor Gay drained the basket for 15 points in the Golden Falcons' regular-season finale Thursday evening. Sharon Moorefield and Jenna Oliver provided three points apiece. Morgan Casey, Heaven Tatum, Desani Jackson, Shi Speight and Jordan Shockey each had two points.
Middle schools
* Girls' basketball: Norwayne 33, Eastern Wayne 21 -- Katie Parrish scored 13 points as Norwayne finished perfect (8-0) against Wayne County Middle Schools Athletic Conference Division I opposition this season. Abbey Thomas chipped in 12 points and Kaitlyn Smith added six points. Norwayne concluded the year 12-1 overall. Natoria Smith emerged as Eastern Wayne's top scorer with six points.
