SEVEN SPRINGS -- Destiny Sutton scored a game-high 19 points as an efficient Spring Creek varsity girls outfit rolled to a 53-15 Carolina 1-A triumph over North Duplin at "The Swamp" on Thursday evening.
The victory moved the Lady Gators to 12-10 on the season, and 9-5 in league matters.
Ashley Marriner contributed 14 points for the hosts, who used a variety of pressure packages to harass the Rebels, who trailed by 12 after the opening quarter and 23 at the break.
"We had a lot of unnecessary fouls in the James Kenan game," said SC head coach Charlie Cotten. "And we talked afterward in practice about moving our feet and keeping our hands to ourselves -- it paid off tonight."
Jordan Lane contributed eight points and five rebounds for SC, while freshman forward Belinda Carson finished with four points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Ivey Rouse contributed eight points and six boards.
North Duplin (0-20 overall, 0-14 Carolina 1-A) was paced by Logan Jones, who filed six points. Junior Mary Taylor Jones finished with five points, while Alyssa Santos recorded five points and five rebounds.
The Lady Gators now await seeding for next week's conference tournament, which begins Monday.
