* Boys' basketball: Spring Creek 84, James Kenan 81 (OT) -- Demarte Bizzell turned in a sizzling 43-point performance as the Gators moved into a first-place tie with the Tigers at 10-1 in Carolina 1-A Conference play. Bizzell converted 11 of 12 free throws. Jensen Barwick added 11 points, followed by James Newsome with nine and Max Williams scored eight points. Spring Creek (16-1 overall) extended its win streak to seven.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Christian d. Community Christian -- Dean Thornton posted a double-double -- 14 points, 18 rebounds -- as the Eagles advanced to the championship game of the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference tournament Tuesday. Jaydon Young contributed 18 points. Jeremy Bentley tallied nine points, while Blake Tinker logged six points, 12 rebounds, three assists and six steals.
* Boys' basketball: C.B. Aycock 28, J.H. Rose 27 -- Jacari Outlaw paced the Golden Falcons with 10 points. Jaylan Robinson added eight points. C.B. Aycock (13-8 overall) rose to 7-4 against Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference opposition this season.
* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro 76, Ayden-Grifton 45 -- Al'Tivon Williams led the Cougards with 23 points. Tyjuwan Barnes added 16 while Jyrei Thompson chipped in 10.
* Girls' basketball: J.H. Rose 25, C.B. Aycock 23 -- Sharon Moorefield emerged as the Golden Falcons' top scorer with 11 points. Morgan Casey delivered a six-point outing. Madeline Patnaude and Taylor Gay scored four and two points, respectively.
Middle schools
* Girls' basketball: Wayne Christian 22, Wilson Christian 21 -- Briana Verme paced the Eagles' attack with 18 points. Kaylee Martin and Hayli Verme each logged points in the scorebook. Wayne Christian concluded the year 3-10 overall.
