PIKEVILLE -- C.B. Aycock's Destiny Washington was having the game of her life against J.H. Rose on Tuesday night.

On several occasions, the senior positioned herself at the free-throw line, gathered the ball and took it straight to the basket.

The performance may have translated into a win, except no other Golden Falcon could find any rhythm besides Washington in the 49-36 loss to the Rampants.

Washington finished with 20 points, which was a little over 55 percent of CBA's offensive output. Everyone else tallied six points or fewer.

"That was part of what we talked about in the locker room," Golden Falcons' head coach Tangela Faulkner said. "If we played our game and our guards scored what we normally do and put that with Destiny (Washington), then we would've blew this team out of the gym."

CBA made six field goals in the first half -- four by Washington and one apiece by Tanika Powell and Cassandra Lassiter. Despite the unbalanced scoring, the Golden Falcons trailed 23-19 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Washington scored seven of the Golden Falcons' nine points. The only other field goal came from Alexis Edmundson.

"For some reason, Destiny (Washington) was doing so well, we stopped looking for our outside shots," Faulkner said. "And I think that hurt us more than helped us. It's okay to look to her, but also look for the opportunities to create that 3-point shot because that has been our game all season."

Aycock's predictable offense began to catch up with it. The Golden Falcons entered the fourth quarter down 33-28, but were outscored 16-8 in the final stanza.

Washington -- who had scored at least six points in the three previous periods -- was held scoreless in the final period.

The 36 points mustered by CBA was its lowest point total of the season.

"For the most part, I would say it was mental fatigue," said Faulkner, describing the fourth quarter. "...I think we were mentally tired and physically, as well. It just showed."

Behind Washington, the Golden Falcons' next highest scorer was Lassiter with six points and Arlanda Faulkner with five points.

CBA turns its attention to Thursday for its regular-season finale against county rival Eastern Wayne. Coach Faulkner told her team to shake off the loss and prepare to protect their gym in the last game of the season.

"I went back there and told them, 'We can't win every game. Even when we want to win. It's okay.' We just have to get ready for Thursday," she said. "I just wanted them to focus on the things we did well, and we did fight for the whole game."
