• WILSON -- Jala Holloman reached the 1,000-point mark of her career with a 19-point outing as Wayne Country Day finished unbeaten in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference action with a 61-21 conquest of Greenfield on Friday evening.

The contest -- a tense affair which resulted in a player from each team being ejected -- was controlled in all aspects by the Chargers, who led by 10 after the opening quarter and 35-12 at the break.

In addition to Holloman, Wayne Country Day received double figure scoring efforts from three players -- Janae Jones (12 points), Lillian Freeman (11 points) and freshman Lexi Jeffreys (10 points). Freeman also grabbed seven rebounds.

Greenfield (0-10 overall, 0-7 CPIC) was paced by freshman Kaelyn Wall, who scored five points. Forward Sumer Hasan contributed four points and seven rebounds.

WCDS (15-7 overall) has earned the No. 1 seed for next week's season-ending tournament. Greenfield is the tournament host.
