* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 69, Pope John Paul 58 -- Andrew Gattis and Jaden Cooper knocked down 22 points apiece during the Chargers' road win. Case Kermode added 10 points. The Chargers (8-4 overall, 3-1 CPIC) entertain Greenfield on Friday.

Middle schools

* Girls' basketball: Norwayne 30, Dillard 26 -- Kaitlyn Smith paced Norwayne's offense with 10 points, while Abbey Thomas chipped in nine. Diamond George and Victoria Rogers led Dillard with 10 and six points, respectively. Norwayne (7-1 overall, 3-0 WCMSAC Division I) returns to action Jan. 26 at home against Dillard. Meanwhile, Dillard is the guest of Spring Creek today.

* Boys' basketball: Norwayne 49, Dillard 46 -- Clay Matthews posted 14 points, five rebounds, two assists and four steals during the Cobras' road win Wednesday afternoon. Trever Reid contributed nine points, three assists and four steals. Ashton Perizini collected seven points and seven rebounds. Anthony Williamson (six rebounds) and Chase Hare tallied six points apiece. Omarreyon Johnson pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Norwayne (7-1 overall) returns home Jan. 26 for a rematch with Dillard.
