CALYPSO -- Belinda Carson scored a game-high 18 points and secured five rebounds to propel Spring Creek past North Duplin, 62-28, in Carolina 1-A Conference play Thursday evening.

The triumph moved the Gators to 7-7 overall and 4-2 in matters of league significance.

Carson was active early, scoring six quick points to open the first quarter and establishing a presence that would be felt until the final buzzer.

The Gators led 19-13 after eight minutes, by double digits at the break and held North Dublin to just 10 second half points en route to their runaway victory.

Senior forward Destiney Sutton registered 15 points for SC, and was joined in double figures by point guard Ashley Marriner, who tallied 14 points. Ivey Rouse, Ashley Watson and Jordan Lane combined for 15 points.

North Duplin (0-12, 0-6) was paced by Mary Taylor Jones, who filed 13 points on the strength of four 3-pointers. Junior Alyssa Santos scored eight points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Destiny George and Jamilyn Wallace notched five and two points, respectively.

Both teams are back in action this evening. Spring Creek will be the guest of Lakewood, while North Duplin travels to face league leader Neuse Charter.
