PREPS DIGEST: JV, middle schools news

JV

* Boys' basketball: C.B. Aycock 31, New Bern 25 -- Jacari Outlaw paced the Golden Falcons' offense with 12 points. Jaylan Robinson contributed nine points, while Raekwon Coley recorded six points. C.B. Aycock improved to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play.

* Girls' basketball: C.B. Aycock 24, New Bern 20 -- Taylor Gay led a balanced Golden Falcons attack with six points. Morgan Casey (five points), Sharon Moorefield (four points), Jenna Oliver (four points), Heaven Tatum (three points) and Dasani Jackson (two points) also contributed in the road win.

Middle schools

* Girls' basketball: Wilson Christian 26, Wayne Christian 14 -- Brianna Verme tallied 10 points for the Eagles before fouling out of the game. Kaylee Martin and Hayli Verme posted two points apiece. Wayne Christian (2-5 overall) faces Greenville Christian next Tuesday.

* Boys' basketball: Norwayne 51, Spring Creek 28 -- Ashton Perizini led the victorious Cobras with nine points, five rebounds and four steals. Clay Matthews logged seven points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals. Omar Tucker (10 rebounds) and Omarreyon Johnson tallied six points apiece. Trever Reid supplied five points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Norwayne (5-1 overall) collected 12 steals as a team.

* Girls' basketball: Grantham 44, Rosewood 20 -- Alissa Meadows delivered a 19-point effort during the Bulldogs' win. Morgan Kennedy and Dmia Wright each had 10 points. Katie Smith led Rosewood with eight points. Grantham (5-1 overall) plays host to Mount Olive on Monday.

* Girls' basketball: Norwayne 41, Spring Creek 26 -- Abbey Thomas pumped in 16 points as the Cobras opened conference play on Thursday. Katie Parrish scored 10 points, followed by Carlie Radford with six points. Norwayne (5-1 overall) travels to Dillard on Monday.
