KENLY -- Joseph Scofield earned the match-clinching pin as Eastern Wayne slipped past North Johnston, 37-33, during a non-conference tri-match Wednesday evening.
Scofield pinned the Panthers' Parker Hayes with 28 seconds remaining in the opening period of their 195-pound bout. North led 33-25 before Anthony Ackee received a forfeit, which set the table for Scofield.
Dilissus Council, Mehki Levins-Williams (120 pounds), Christian Torres (132), Billy Bryant (138) and Victor Skinner (145) each emerged victorious in their respective match.
The Warriors dropped a 39-33 decision to Greene Central.
Council, heavyweight Quiontay Foust, Torres, Jaleek Lewis, Skinner and Ackee each claimed an individual win.
On the night, Eastern Wayne (8-11 overall) collected six pins, four forfeits, two decisions and one major decision.
The Warriors will take a nine-day break before visiting arch rival Charles B. Aycock on Jan. 13 --an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference tri-match that includes D.H. Conley.
