CHARLOTTE -- Charlotte Christian opened the game with an 11-0 run and cruised past Wayne Country Day, 80-52, in non-conference action Saturday evening.
Cole Atwood paced three Chargers in double figures with 13 points. Jimmie Sanders and Jamal King tallied 12 points apiece. King pulled down 10 rebounds, while Atwood collected eight boards.
"We started off very sluggish," WCDS head coach David Flowers said. "We cut the lead to 10 (points) in the fourth quarter, but never got any closer."
The Chargers shot 27 percent from the floor and surrendered 50 points in the paint on defense. Virginia Tech commit BJ Mack led Charlotte Christian with a double-double -- 18 points, 10 rebounds.
Wayne Country Day (3-5 overall) opens Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference play today at Community Christian.
