Wrestling

Rosewood goes 2-0

* Louis Tortual posted two pins as Rosewood swept a three-team, non-conference match contested Thursday night.

The Eagles defeated North Pitt (58-19) and NCISAA power Ravenscroft (42-27).

Christian Decatur, Timothy Decatur and Reid Amodeo each posted two wins. Hunter Weeks, Michael Zagone, Tanner Smith, Seth Finney, Cam Helt, Dhimani Fenty, Noah Carden, Nyterrius Williams, Chris Hill and Joey Behrend each posted one win.

"Ravenscroft always gives us a great challenge because they are fundamentally sound top to bottom in their lineup," said Eagles' coach Bill Edmundson. "Their coach wrestled for NC State and still has many contacts and resources there in Raleigh, so they come in prepared."

Boys' basketball

Spring Creek 63, Lejeune 36

* JACKSONVILLE -- Spring Creek posted its second-straight victory with an impressive 63-36 win over Lejeune Friday night.

Dominique Morse led the Gators with 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds and tallied four steals. Jamerion Dawson scored 10 points, snatched four rebounds and also tallied four steals. Cameron Jones chipped in four points and a team-high 15 rebounds.

The Gators (2-1) travel to South Lenoir this Tuesday.

C.B. Ayock 40, Rosewood 38

* C.B. Aycock clinched a close, 40-38 non-conference victory over Rosewood Friday night.

Chance Howard led the Eagles with 13 points and Conner Vernon added seven. For the Golden Falcons, Eli Batts and Semaj Yelverton each scored eight points.

The Eagles (0-2) travel to Southern Wayne this Tuesday.

Girls' basketball

Faith 38, Greenville Christian 13

* Faith continued its hot start to the season with a strong 38-13 victory over Greenville Christian Friday night.

The Conquerors outscored the Knights 12-0 in the first quarter. Chloe Mills led Faith with 16 points. Reagan Baumgartner had 13 and Heather Skinner scored four.

The Conquerors face Hilltop Christian this Friday.

Lejeune 50, Spring Creek 44

* JACKSONVILLE -- Spring Creek dropped a 50-44 non-conference loss to Lejeune Friday night.

Destiny Sutton filled the box score with 20 points, six steals, six rebounds and one block. Ashley Marriner added eight points, three assists and two reobunds.

C.B. Aycock 48, Rosewood 41

Behind a 23-point effort from Alexis Edmundson, C.B. Aycock soared to a 48-41 victory over Rosewood Friday night.

Cassandra Lassister added 12 points. Arlanda Faulkner and Victoria Patnaude snatched nine and seven rebounds, respectively.

* Boys' basketball: Spring Creek 69, Lejeune 49 -- The Gators' Tyrese Artis scored 19 points and Xavier Tart added 17.

* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro 36, Southern Wayne 29 -- Al'tivon Williams led the Cougars with 13 points. Jyrei Thompson and Ty-juwan Barnes each had eight.

* Boys' basketball: Rosewood 27, C.B. Aycock 23 -- Logan Mitchell led Rosewood with 10 points. Jacari Outlaw led CBA with seven.

* Girls' basketball: Southern Wayne 33, Goldsboro 16 -- Shamya Floyd led Goldsboro with nine points. Akia Drumgoole scored five and Taylor Lane added four points.
