KINSTON -- Wayne Country Day put an end to its losing streak with a 70-52 triumph over Parrott Academy on Thursday.
Jamal King scored a game-high 28 points -- 14 coming in the first quarter. Marcus Metcalf added 12 points for the Chargers while Jimmie Sanders chipped in 10. The team combined to hit 10 three-pointers.
"We set the tone early. Jamal had our first 11 points and finished the first half with 19," said WCDS coach David Flowers said. "Defensively we were terrific and executed very well on the offensive side. It was great to see our guards maintain composure and take care of the ball in key situations. One of the best team games we've had."
WCDS (3-4) plays Charlotte Christian on Saturday.
