KENLY -- Defending state 1-A dual-team champion Rosewood launched its 2016-17 season with a tri-meet sweep of Louisburg and host North Johnston on Tuesday evening.
The Eagles shut out Louisburg 74-0 and cruised past the Panthers 72-12.
"As a team, we were very excited to kick off the wrestling season and get some of the younger guys the opportunity to experience a live match," RHS head coach Bill Edmundson said. "We have several spots on the team with inexperienced wrestlers, but they stepped up tonight and wrestled exceptionally well to be so early in the season.
"Our more experienced guys anchored the win and brought home the first two dual-team wins of the season."
Chris Hill, Reid Amodeo, Wesley Sturgill, Tanner Smith, Jayden Thomas, Isaiah Kornegay, Jeremiah Astaneda, Hunter Weeks, Jacob Brown and Christian Decatur each posted a 2-0 record.
Tim Decatur-Luker, Mason Minchew, Luis Tortual and Patrick Jones picked up one win apiece.
