BURLINGTON -- Elizabeth Sutton concluded her Eastern Wayne tennis career with an opening-round loss to Asheville's Adrienne Haynes during the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A individual state championships Friday morning.
Haynes, the reigning state champ, defeated Sutton 6-0, 6-0.
Sutton fashioned a 68-23 career record -- in singles and doubles combined -- with the Warriors that included two Eastern Carolina 3-A conference doubles titles, all-ECC recognition in singles and doubles play, an eastern regional singles title and two appearances in the state individual tournament.
She was named Eastern Wayne's team MVP on three occasions.
