FOOTBALL: Wayne Christian dominates Lawrence Academy

Wayne Christian took just 41/2 minutes to get on the scoreboard and it was smooth sailing from there Friday evening.
Austin Kornegay rushed for a career-high 254 yards on just eight carries during the Eagles' 58-28 shellacking of Colonial Carolina 1-A Conference 8-man football foe Lawrence Academy.
Kornegay rambled for four touchdowns, including a career-best 90-yard gallop midway through the third quarter. His other TDs covered 25, 37 and 37 yards.
Kanin Preskitt, quarterback DJ Waters, Tyler Weeks and Junior Tabe accounted for one touchdown apiece. Weeks hauled in a 35-yard TD reception from Waters with 9:57 left in the third period.
Waters ended the night 5 of 11 for 193 yards.
Wayne Christian piled up 597 yards of total offense, including 100 yards -- 45 rushing, 55 receiving -- from Will White.
The Eagles (3-6 overall, 3-3 CCC) are scheduled to complete a suspended game against Parrott Academy on Monday. The Patriots led 22-20 when lightning and heavy rains forced officials to stop the game.
Lawrence departed 0-8 overall and 0-6 in the CCC.

HOLLYWOOD CROSSROADS -- Nearly two weeks after recording consecutive state-record scoring games, D.H. Conley's offense continued to click Friday evening.
The Vikings jumped out to a 35-point halftime lead and rolled past Eastern Wayne 42-0 in an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference game.
The Warriors managed just 90 yards of total offense.
Quarterback Zeke Best completed six passes to four different receivers for 65 yards. Alex Sharpless grabbed three receptions for 45 yards. Tyler Davis, Matt Askew and Junious Tyson reeled in one pass apiece.
DHC held Eastern Wayne's ground attack to 25 yards.
The Warriors (3-4 overall, 1-2 ECC) entertain county foe Southern Wayne next Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
