VOLLEYBALL: Wayne Christian dumps Village Christian in 4 sets

Hannah Sladick just missed a triple-double during a 25-18, 25-27, 25-19, 25-5 non-conference conquest of Village Christian inside Clifford Gym on Tuesday evening.
A senior middle hitter, Sladick recorded 18 kills, nine digs and a season-high eight blocks. Hope Shook pounded out 12 kills and picked up five digs. Ashlee Harrelson supplied five kills and 12 digs.
Mercy Wright collected six kills and two blocks. Sarah Sawyer and Holly Gurley (11 digs) each served four aces. Kasey Norris handed out 44 assists.
Wayne Christian (19-4 overall) continues play Thursday at Pope John Paul II. The Eagles can clinch the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference regular-season title outright and automatic bid to the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association playoffs.
