CROSS COUNTRY: Aycock's Owens places 3rd

WINTERVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock teammates Deshawn Owens and Davis Carroll each finished among the top 10 during an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet ran at Boyd Lee Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Owens took third individually with a time of 18 minutes, 30.35 seconds. Carroll crossed the line 10th in 19:34.20. Teammates Hunter Crane (15th, 19:55.93), Jonathan Bowers (23rd, 20:31.90) and Guy Crane (25th, 20:38.63) rounded out the Golden Falcons' team score of 75 points.
Bless Thomas led Southern Wayne with a ninth-place effort of 19:32.71. Damor Hughes (38th) turned in a time of 21:14.69. Davis Caudill (40th) ran the 5k course in 21:15.49. Teammates Matthew Castillo (43rd, 21:35.47) and Joel Espinosa (44th, 21:37.17) finished among the Saints' top five runners.
SW amassed 158 points.
Zack Childress emerged as Eastern Wayne's top performer with a 17th-place mark of 20:08.62. Justin Neely ended up 29th in 20:51.35. The Warriors' next three placers were Yohan Yan (64th, 23:10.48), Tristen Lauritzen (66th, 23:25.53) and Zach Wilt (23:25.72).
The Warriors tallied 177 points.
