FOOTBALL: Goldsboro falls to Farmville Central

FARMVILLE -- Farmville Central pitched a shutout for three quarters and cruised past Goldsboro, 36-6, on Friday evening.
The Cougars' lone score was a 27-yard TD pass from KJ Alston to Jacob Owens. Alston concluded the night 8 of 18 with one pick for 70 yards. Owens hauled in three receptions that totaled 55.
Zxavior Bowden led the ground game with 53 yards.
FC held Goldsboro to 139 yards of total offense.
Sophomore Sileek Warren emerged as Goldsboro's defensive leader with 12 stops. Bowden had 10 stops, followed by Dayquell Dawson with six and Emmanuel Persky with five. Owens and Bowden each logged an interception.
GHS collected 57 tackles as a team.
The Cougars (0-6 overall) head into a bye week and return to action Oct. 7 at home against North Lenoir in the Eastern Carolina 2-A opener for both teams.
