FOOTBALL: West Carteret rolls past Eastern Wayne

MOREHEAD CITY -- Ezekiel Best threw a pair of touchdown passes during Eastern Wayne's 45-21, non-conference loss to West Carteret on Friday evening.
Best zipped scoring strikes to Anthony McNair and Juwan Holmes. McNair ended the night with 98 yards on four receptions, while Holmes had 25 yards on two catches.
Alex Sharpless had four receptions for 26 yards and Malyk Williams hauled in one pass that covered 14 yards.
Best ended up 10 of 23 for 163 yards with no picks.
Matthew Askew-Betts paced the Warriors' ground game with 53 yards, while Best added 30.
Williams returned a 92-yard kickoff to the house.
Defensively, Marlon Lewis logged seven solo tackles. William Smith collected four tackles, forced two fumbles and recovered one fumble.
Eastern Wayne (2-2 overall) returns home Friday for its Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference opener against South Central. Kickoff is 7 p.m. in New Hope.
