VOLLEYBALL: Goldsboro notches first-ever win over North Lenoir

Goldsboro staged a pair of third- and fourth-set rallies from the service line and pulled off a come-from-behnd 18-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-23 victory over North Lenoir in the Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference opener for both teams Thursday afternoon.

Down 6-1 in the third set, GHS reeled off 18 consecutive points with Amber Pfennig at the service stripe. Two points away from a possible fifth set, the Cougars put together a match-ending 11-point run with Marcy Taylor on serve.

"They both did a really good job serving when we needed consistent serving," GHS head coach TJ Lancster said.

Becca Pittard logged 14 kills. Jacquiera Braswell contributed 12 kills. Pfennig and Taylor combined for six aces.

Riley Howell distributed 35 assists.

The Cougars (8-5 overall, 1-0 ECC) play host to Kinston on Tuesday.
