* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day 2, Neuse Charter 1 -- Ben Stuber knocked in the game-winning goal during the Chargers triumph over Neuse Charter on Thursday afternoon. Teammate Max Young scored off an assist from Cam Gerrard.
* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Hobbton 25-17, 25-15 -- McKinley Edmondson paced the Gators with five aces and 10 assists. Mikayla Price and Bianca Cuevas combined for seven kills and two aces.
* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Pope John Paul 25-22, 23-25, 15-10 -- Lexi Jeffreys just missed a double-double with eight kills and eight aces. Cate Eagles contributed 15 aces and nine assists. Whitney Hoskins had three kills.
* Volleyball: Princeton d. Neuse Charter 2-0 -- Kalli Jones collected six kills during the Bulldogs' road win. Reanna Braswell (3 kills), Harley Parker (2 kills), Hailey Woodall (1 kill) and Hannah Byrd (1 kill) also contributed offensively. Lily Eklund recorded nine assists and seven aces. Sophie Meyers served five aces.
* Volleyball: North Duplin d. James Kenan 25-18, 25-17 -- The Rebels climbed to 3-6 overall and 2-4 against Carolina 1-A Conference opposition.
* Volleyball: D.H. Conley d. Eastern Wayne 25-9, 25-13 -- Ziomara Williams had the Warriors' lone kill. Demya Yelverton registered two assists. Yelverton and Bethany Williams combined for three assists.
* Girls' tennis: Wayne Country Day 6, Christ Covenant 3 -- The Chargers won six of seven contested matches. Hanna McKeithan, Cady Stanley, Diya Shreenath and Grace O'Daniel each won in singles. The duos of McKeithan-Cady and O'Daniel-Shreenath secured the victory in doubles action.
* JV volleyball: Goldsboro d. North Lenoir 25-12, 25-15 -- Nadia Coles pounded out five kills and Addie Shirley contribute four aces. The Cougars improved to 11-2 overall this season.
* JV volleyball: New Bern d. C.B. Aycock 25-20, 25-18 -- Daelyn Brock had eight kills for the visiting Golden Falcons. McKenzie Norris collected three. Brock and Norris combined for 10 digs on defense. Norris recorded 12 assists.
Middle schools
* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Mount Olive 25-10, 25-3, 25-16 -- The Cobras (2-0 overall) entertain Rosewood on Monday.
* Football: Grantham 30, Norwayne 8 -- Mark Graham led the Bulldogs' offensive attack with 100 yards rushing and a touchdown. Trae Roa threw an 18-yard TD pass to Tayvon Callahan and returned a punt 30 yards for a TD. Deh'Zar Howell added a touchdown. Tanner Brock blocked a punt and Callahan emerged as the defensive leader with seven stopes. It was the season-opening game for Grantham, which plays host to Mount Olive next Thursday.
* Volleyball: Grantham d. Spring Creek 25-19, 17-25, 25-17, 25-19 -- Haley Toler had four aces and three kills. Morgan Kennedy contributed seven aces and four kills. Sarah Game (5 aces, 1 kill), Abbey Parker (3 aces, 4 kills) and Alissa Meadows (5 kills) also contributed in the four-set win. Virginia Edmundson led SC with four aces and two kills. Alissa Price served one ace. Grantham (2-0 overall) is the guest of Eastern Wayne on Monday. The Gators fell to 1-1 this season.
* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Dillard 25-5, 25-13, 25-16 -- Katie Smith served nine aces for Rosewood. The Eagles (2-0 overall) face Norwayne on Monday.
