Wayne Country Day 3,

Christ Covenant 0

* Olivia Dively cranked out a match-high nine kills and posted two blocks during Wayne Country Day's 25-21, 25-14, 25-8 triumph over first-year Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference member Christ Covenant on Friday afternoon.

Dively also served two aces and logged four digs on defense for the Chargers, who extended their win streak to three matches.

Lillian Freeman contributed seven kills and two blocks. Hannah Neal supplied six kills, three aces and six digs. Grayson Jeffreys collected five kills, one block, two aces and two digs.

Kyara Drew chipped in four kills, one block, one dig.

Jala Holloman knocked down three kills.

DeKiya Thomas passed out 22 assists and served four aces.

Wayne Country Day (4-7 overall, 3-1 CPIC) entertains league-leading Wayne Christian on Monday.

Wayne Christian 3, Greenfield 0

* WILSON -- Ashlee Harrelson cranked out nine kills and Wayne Christian extended its win streak to nine with a 25-15, 25-21, 25-21 conquest of Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference foe Greenfield on Friday afternoon.

Hannah Sladick added 10 kills and two blocks. Hope Shook added seven kills. Mercy Wright and Amanda Morrell recorded seven and three kills, respectively.

Holley Gurley and Sarah Sawyer combined for seven digs.

Kasey Norris logged 31 assists and served six aces.

Wayne Christian (14-1 overall, 5-0 CPIC) begins second-half conference play Monday at Wayne Country Day.

Hilltop Christian 3,

Faith Christian 0

* FUQUAY-VARINA -- Aliyah Pittman collected five kills as Faith Christian fell to Hilltop Christian 26-24, 25-15, 25-17 in a N.C. Christian Schools Association 2-A match Friday evening.

Savannah Potts registered one ace, one kill and seven digs. Chloe Mills had one kill and five digs. Jordan Lawhorn supplied one ace, a team-high eight kills and three digs.

Emma Meador had three aces.

Faith Christian fell to 2-3 overall.

Hobbton 3, North Duplin 0

* CALYPSO -- Anna Thornton handed out 23 assists as North Duplin dropped a 17-25, 25-19, 23-25, 21-25 decision to Carolina 1-A Conference foe Hobbton.

Taylor Walker and Haley Brogden reeled off 11 kills apiece for the Rebels. Maddie Swinson contributed five kills, five digs and three service aces.

Abbey Pate led the defense with 11 digs.

North Duplin (2-5 overall, 1-3 CC) takes on Princeton next Tuesday.

Boys' soccer

Wayne Country Day 11,

Christ Covenant 0

* Wayne Country Day built a six-goal advantage during the first 12 minutes and hammered Christ Covenant, 11-0, in mercy-rule fashion on the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference scene Friday afternoon.

The game was called at halftime.

Nehemiya Shaw, Hunter Bryson, Ben Cohen and midfield general Noah Adkins knocked in two goals apiece for the Chargers -- the reigning N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A state champions.

David Gurley, Marquise Newell and John Thompson each punched in one goal. Thompson distributed a match-high three assists. James Thompson and Luis Lopez each logged two assists.

Bryson, Newell, Gurley and Cole Brewer each had one assist.

WCDS posted its sixth shutout of the season and improved to 2-1-0 against CPIC opposition this season. The Chargers (9-2-0 overall) continue play Tuesday at CPIC foe Pope John Paul.

Cross country

Chargers sweep meet

* RALEIGH -- Cole Atwood and Janae Jones each finished first in their respective races, and led Wayne Country Day to team victories during a meet contested at Wake Christian Academy.

Atwood crossed the line first in 18 minutes, 56 seconds. Teammates Connor Bauer (3rd, 20:52), Suraj Patel (7th, 21:36), Case Kermode (9th, 21:57) and Brandon Talton (11th, 22:12) also contributed to the team win.

Jones covered the 5k trek in a meet-best time of 23:06. Gray Young captured third in 23:46. She was followed by Ashton Gupton (6th, 26:43), Katherine Eltz (8th, 27:16) and Neha Patel (10th, 27:30).

WCDS plays host to an eight-team meet on Monday.

JV

* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day 4, Christ Covenant 0 -- Frank Best notched the eventual game-winning goal on an assist from Tanner Willman. Best added his second goal off Dylan Brown's pass. Max Young and Kevin Baker provided one goal apiece. Thad Moye had one assist. Brown assisted on Baker's goal. The Chargers (2-1-2) overall) entertain Neuse Charter next Thursday.
