BOYS' SOCCER: Castenada sets school record

SMITHFIELD -- Dario Castenada punched in a single-game school record eight goals as North Duplin handed Neuse Charter a 10-1, mercy-rule defeat on the Carolina 1-A Conference scene Monday afternoon.
Castenada found his scoring touch in the first 90 seconds and went on to score seven more times. It was a career-high night for Castenada, who is the reigning News-Argus male athlete-of-the-week.
Oscar Luna and Wilber Velasquez knocked in one goal apiece. Juan Garcia tallied two assists. Luis Velasquez and Ovidio Rojas each provided one assist.
ND goalies Raul Romero and Felipe Prudencio combined for seven saves.
