* Girls' tennis: Wayne Country Day 6, Christ Covenant 3 -- Short-handed WCDS clinched the outcome with two doubles points -- victories by Hanna McKeithan-Cady Stanley and Diya Shreenath-Grace O'Daniel. McKeithan, Stanley, Shreenath and O'Daniel each emerged victorious in singles play. The Chargers (2-1 overall) return to action Sept. 7 at Kerr-Vance Academy.

* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Neuse Charter 25-23, 25-23 -- Shae Odom had four aces and 11 assists in the Gators' straight-set win. Mikayla Price delivered six kills. Bianca Cuevas picked up three digs. Emily Dupuy contributed five kills and one block.

* Volleyball: Lakewood d. North Duplin 25-14, 25-16 -- The Rebels (1-4 overall) fell to 0-2 against Carolina 1-A Conference opposition.

* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Greenfield 25-18, 25-15 -- Whitney Hopkins led the Chargers with three kills. Lexi Jeffreys added two kills. Cate Eagles served six aces. WCDS (5-0 overall) rose to 2-0 in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference play and is the guest of Community Christian next Tuesday.

* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day 3, Greenfield 3 -- Tyler Ostendorf, Frank Best and Kevin Baker each scored one goal apiece for the host Chargers. WCDS (1-1-1 overall) entertains Christ Covenant on Sept. 9.

* Volleyball: C.B. Aycock d. Greene Central 25-11, 25-19 -- Freshman Lydia Butler, McKenzie Norris and sophomore Daelyn Brock pounded out four kills apiece. Victoria Patnaude recorded a team-high four blocks. Abigail Lancaster and Norris collected 10 and seven digs, respectively. CBA had 40 digs as a team. Norris had seven assists.

* Volleyball: Princeton d. Rosewood 25-10, 31-29 -- The Bulldogs (5-2 overall, 2-0 Carolina 1-A) continue play Tuesday at county foe Cleveland.
