CROSS COUNTRY: Chargers' Jones wins 2nd individual meet of season

KINSTON -- Janae Jones emerged victorious in her second meet of the season and led Wayne Country Day to a first-place team showing during a multi-team meet ran at Parrott Academy on Thursday afternoon.
Jones crossed the line in 22 minutes, 35 seconds. Teammates Gray Young (23:49), Ashton Gupton (25:49) and Katherine Eltz (26:32) each posted a top-10 time. Natalie Bailey was 12th overall in 26:54.
On the boys' side, the Chargers' Cole Atwood ran the 5k course in 18:27, good enough for third overall. Connor Bauer ended up 12th in 20:38. The Chargers got solid efforts from Suraj Patel (15th, 22:06), Brandon Talton (17th, 22:36) and Case Kermode (18th, 22:39).
WCDS wound up third in the team standings.
