* Volleyball: North Duplin d. Lejeune 25-17, 25-19 -- The Rebels (1-2 overall) snapped a season-opening two-match skid.
* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Oakwood 25-8, 25-21-- Cate Eagles, Graysen Jeffreys and Katie Strickland combined for nine aces in the Chargers' straight-set win Thursday afternoon. Eagles dished out eight assists, while Strickland distributed four. Jala Holloman led the offense with six kills. Graysen Jeffreys and Lexi Jeffreys each registered four kills. WCDS (3-0 overall) visits Wayne Christian today.
* Volleyball: Princeton d. South Johnston 25-19, 23-25, 15-12 -- The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 overall this season.
* Volleyball: C.B. Aycock d. Goldsboro 26-24, 14-25, 15-12 -- The sophomore tandem of Daelyn Brock and McKenzie Norris recorded seven and four kills, respectively. Norris, freshman Abigail Lancaster (23 digs) and freshman Victoria Patnaude served two aces apiece. Norris passed out 10 assists. Nikki Olmsted had five kills and four aces for Goldsboro. Grace Tart recorded four kills and Garyn Taylor had four aces.
* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Southern Wayne 20-25, 25-22, 25-20 -- Shae Odom led the Gators with eight aces and six assists. Bianca Cuevas registered four kills and three aces. Alex Jordan (four kills, one ace), Mikayla Price (one block) and Emily Brock (one block) also contributed to the come-from-behind win.
Middle schools
* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Oakwood 25-12, 25-19 -- Elizabeth Johnson served a team-high seven aces for the Chargers. Whitney Hoskins and Mary Allison Watkins combined for seven aces. Claire Barfield had two aces. Mayah Drayton contributed one ace and one kill. The Chargers (1-0 overall) are the guests of Wayne Christian today.
