PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock broke open a one-run game over a three-inning stretch and cruised past Goldsboro, 11-1, in an Eastern Carolina Baseball League game contested at Charles Davis Field on Friday evening.
The mercy-rule game ended in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Goldsboro trailed 2-1 after 31/2 innings before CBA White came alive offensively to snap the Cougars' modest two-game win streak. The Golden Falcons plated two fourth-inning runs, fourth in the fifth and invoked the mercy rule in the sixth.
Christian Brady (two RBI), Trey Smith (two RBI) and Clay Matthews combined to account for four of CBA White's eight hits. Smith authored a five-inning outing on the mound that included seven strikeouts.
Chandler Patrick and Josh Hartsfield provided two hits apiece for Goldsboro, which is the guest of Wilson Fike White on Monday.
CBA White entertains Southern Wayne White.
Both games start at 6 p.m.
