WCJA: Bartlett takes 1st round at GMGC

St. Andrews University signee Blake Bartlett shot an opening-day, nine-hole round of 40 to launch the 2016 Wayne County Junior Amateur tournament campaign among the 14- to 18-year-old boys' division.
Drew Grady fired a 41.
Andrew Ingram, Bryce Jones and Cameron Klages each posted a 42. Ty Daniels was one stroke back at 43.
Wayne Country Day's Kelly Lewis posted a 45 in the girls' 14-18 division. Rosewood's Shamayah Revis carded a 72, followed by Samantha Castorena with a 73.
Christian Edwards took the boys' 11-12 division with a 55.
In 9-11 co-ed play, Blake Easom edged Karsyn Hannett 49-51 on opening day. Aaron Ingram and Caroline Jones turned in scores of 55 and 64, respectively.
In the 6-8 co-ed division, Ella Hannant shot a 44. Collyn Smith had a 57.
Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course played host to round one. Round two is June 16 at Lane Tree Golf Club.
