Jernigan spearheads Saints' shutout of New Bern

NEW BERN -- Josh Jernigan scattered four hits during a six-inning stretch, and Southern Wayne shut out New Bern, 5-0, in an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference game Friday evening.
Jernigan sat down three Bears on strikeouts.
Alex Bradley earned the save for the Saints, who ended a six-game skid against ECC opposition this season.
Carter Jones paced Southern's offense with two hits and two runs scored. Jernigan batted 1-for-2 with a run scored, and an RBI. Tyler Brock contributed a hit and an RBI.
Manny Walker tripled and scored a run.
Southern Wayne (6-11 overall, 1-6 ECC) returns to action Tuesday at Charles B. Aycock. First pitch is 6 p.m.
