Greenfield eases past WCDS on baseball diamond

Defending state 1-A independent schools champion Greenfield turned back Wayne Country Day, 5-3, in a Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference game Friday afternoon.
John Strickland swatted a two-run home run for the Chargers, and ended the day with two hits and three RBI. Teammates Patrick Hall and Amane Godo supplied two hits apiece.
Case Kermode, Jacob Magera and Drew Barnes each logged one hit.
Strickland went the distance on the bump. He allowed five earned runs on eight hits, walked four and struck out eight.
Wayne Country Day (8-5-1 overall, 0-1 CPIC) visits Oakwood on Tuesday.
