Hobbton avoids mercy-rule softball loss, battles back to beat Rosewood

NEWTON GROVE -- Hobbton erupted for 11 runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined, and claimed a 12-11 comeback win over Rosewood in a Carolina 1-A Conference game Thursday evening.

Rosewood led 11-1 after 41/2 innings.

Kaitlyn Kincaid paced the Eagles' offense with four hits and an RBI. Keelin Hunter (two RBI), Kiandra Taylor (two RBI) and Shayla Marak each had two hits.

Braylee Butts and Hailey Weeks (two RBI) each provided one hit.

Weeks and Kincaid each stole two bases, while Butts and Hunter each swiped one bag. The Wildcat defense threw out three Eagle runners attempting to steal.

Kincaid permitted two earned runs on seven hits and retired six Hobbton batters on strikeouts during her 137-pitch outing.
