SNOW HILL -- Kyle Davis delivered the game-winning single in the top half of the seventh inning as Charles B. Aycock rallied past Greene Central, 8-3, on the James R. Fulghum Baseball Complex diamond Thursday afternoon.

The Golden Falcons trailed 3-1 after six innings.

GC surrendered two walks and an infield hit, which sparked Aycock's game-clinching eight-run uprising. Ashton McGee closed the gap to 3-2. Cameron Kornegay knotted the game at 3-all with an RBI single, which set up the scene for Davis.

After Davis' run-scoring knock, Mason Watt pushed across another run with a sacrifice fly. Aycock loaded the bases again and got an RBI single from Jacob Sanford. Chandler Matthews capped the stirring comeback with a two-RBI single.

"We didn't play bad and didn't commit an error (and) we had eight hits up until the seventh inning. We just couldn't get that timely hit," CBA head coach Charles Davis said.

Sanford, Bryce Anders (two RBI), Matthews, Kornegay and Kyle Davis (two RBI) pounded out two hits apiece. McGee ended the day 1-for-2 with two walks.

Sanford emerged as the winning pitcher in relief of starter Trey Jordan. The University of Mount Olive signee tossed three innings and retired seven GC batters on strikeouts. Jordan allowed three earned runs on six hits and logged two strikeouts in a four-inning stint.

The Golden Falcons (16-2 overall) return home Tuesday against county and Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference rival Southern Wayne.
