SOFTBALL: Princeton rolls past Spring Creek

PRINCETON -- Beth Braswell swatted a home run and Hailey Wood logged 10 strikeouts inside the circle during Princeton's 15-0, mercy-rule conquest of Carolina 1-A Conference foe Spring Creek on Friday evening.
Braswell ended the game 3-for-4. Teammates Casey Mitchell, Megan Bryant, Taylor Carroll and Kelsie Peedin contributed three hits apiece.
Brianna Myers batted 2-for-4.
Wood limited the Gators to one hit and walked one in a complete-game effort.
One night earlier, Braswell threw a one-hit, eight-strikeout shutout during a 17-0 romp over Lakewood. Braswell did not walk a batter in her complete-game effort.
The Bulldogs collected 15 hits, including a home run from Wood. The senior utility player just missed the hitting for the cycle in a 4-for-4 performance that included two singles and a triple.
Brianna Myers went 3-for-4. Megan Bryant and Emily Ricks supplied two hits apiece. Braswell, Casey Mitchell, Taylor Carroll and Karlyn Woodard each contributed one hit.
Princeton (7-1 overall, 4-1 CC) entertains Rosewood next Tuesday, while Spring Creek (3-7, 2-3) is the guest of defending state 1-A champion North Duplin.
