SOFTBALL: CBA defeats Rose by mercy rule

GREENVILLE -- Taylor Puetz tripled and collected three RBI during Charles B. Aycock's 13-1, five-inning decision over Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference foe J.H. Rose on Friday evening.
Puetz ended the night 2-for-4. Connor Vinson, Hannah Vinson, Madison Walton and Abbie Walton cranked out two hits apiece.
Taylor Waddell started inside the circle and retired five Rampants on strikeouts during a three-inning stint. Allie Phillips threw two innings of two-hit, four-strikeout relief.
The Golden Falcons (15-0 overall, 5-0 ECC) conclude first-half conference play at home Tuesday against Eastern Wayne.
