BASEBALL: Vikings break away from Cougars in 6th inning

KINSTON -- Kinston plated six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and dealt Goldsboro an 11-2 loss on the Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference scene Friday evening.
Jonathan Stevens emerged as the Cougars' offensive leader with two hits. Brody Morton and Chandler Patrick each had one.
Second-year GHS head coach Danny Merritt said catcher Thomas Vick "had an outstanding defensive game."
Goldsboro plays host to South Lenoir on Tuesday.
