KINSTON -- Kinston plated six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and dealt Goldsboro an 11-2 loss on the Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference scene Friday evening.

Jonathan Stevens emerged as the Cougars' offensive leader with two hits. Brody Morton and Chandler Patrick each had one.

Second-year GHS head coach Danny Merritt said catcher Thomas Vick "had an outstanding defensive game."

Goldsboro plays host to South Lenoir on Tuesday.
