Gators' Rouse tosses no-hitter

PRINCETON -- Will Rouse threw a no-hitter as defending Carolina 1-A Conference champion Spring Creek blanked Princeton 1-0 on Tuesday evening at the Fred Bartholomew Jr. Athletic Complex.
Rouse retired five Bulldogs and issued one walk during an efficient 65-pitch outing.
The Gators posted their lone run in the third inning.
Sawyer Smith paced SC's offense with three hits, while Levi Smith supplied two hits. Hunter Walker, Kaden Geelen and Landon Smothers each had one hit.
Smith recorded the Gators' lone RBI.
Tanner Flowers started and gave up the earned run on six hits and sat down six Gators on strikeouts. Matt Daughtry tossed one inning of two-hit, one-walk relief.
Princeton (7-3 overall, 3-1 CC) entered the game as one of four unbeaten league teams along with Rosewood and North Duplin.
Spring Creek (5-3, 4-0) steps outside league play for a non-conference game Friday at South Lenoir.
