PREPS DIGEST: JV, middle schools

* Baseball: C.B. Aycock 3, D.H. Conley 1 -- The Golden Falcons iced the outcome with a two-run, sixth-inning uprising. Caleb Matthews and Cody Whaley emerged as the offensive leaders with two hits apiece. Balke Gipson and Nick Aycock each had one hit. Tyler Daniels and Seth Harrison each provided an RBI. Whaley earned the pitching win. He yielded one earned run on four hits and retired four DHC batters on strikeouts in a complete-game performance.

Middle schools

* Softball: Wayne Christian 28, Lee Christian 12 -- Abigail Kornegay and Leah Boswell each hit for the "cycle" -- a single, double, triple and home run -- during the Eagles' offensive explosion. Abbe Harris, Brianna Verme and Victoria Harrell each had a solid day at the plate. Wayne Christian (3-2 overall) returns to action April 5 with a doubleheader against Ahoskie Ridgecroft.

* Girls' soccer: Norwayne 10, Mount Olive 1 -- Haley Martin punched four goals and provided an assist for the unbeaten Cobras. Colleen Jones contributed two goals and one assist. Kayla Spier, Tanner Griffin, Annabelle Watkins and Brylee Sauls each tallied one goal. Taylor Smith dished out four assists. Lydia Butler, Sauls and Brianna Casey each handed out two assists. Norwayne (5-0-0 overall) visits Brogden on Thursday.
