Wayne Country Day pounds out mercy-rule road win

SANFORD -- Wayne Country Day exploded for eight first-inning runs and hammered out a 15-2, mercy-rule victory over Lee Christian on Monday afternoon.
Jack Talton and Drew Barnes combined for a four-hitter on the mound. Talton logged five strikeouts and yielded two earned runs on four hits in four innings of work. Barnes threw a scoreless fifth.
Mitch Turnage (three RBI) and John Strickland (two RBI) paced the Chargers' offensive attack with two hits apiece. Case Kermode (RBI), Patrick Hall (two RBI) and Zach Barfield (two RBI) each had one hit.
Barnes logged two RBI.
Wayne Country Day (5-2-1 overall) plays host to Oakwood on Thursday. First pitch is 4:30 p.m.
